Akita: High-flexibility, high-performance, parallel computer architecture simulation framework [On Going]

It is a collaborative project between Northeastern University, Boston University and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Some of the collaborators are: Dr. Yifan Sun, Assistant Professor, William and Mary, USA, Dr. Saiful A. Majumder, Doctoral Research Fellow, Boston University, USA and others. The main objective of this project is to get to know about General Purpose Graphics Processing Unit (GPGPU) and developing benchmark for Multi GPU system. I am currently working in this project.

  • Working on a publicly available and comprehensive multi-GPU simulation framework to evaluate next-generation multi-GPU system designs.

  • It is a cycle-accurate, extensively validated, multi-GPU simulator, based on AMD’s Graphics Core Next 3 (GCN3) instruction set architecture.

  • Designing and writing a benchmark for the simulator as an additional feature.

IoT Based Railway Fishplate and Track Monitoring System for Safe Transport

This project is the main focus of my working as a research assistant at BUET. In 2019, I along with Professor Dr. Md Farhad Hossain, Department of EEE, BUET gave a research proposal to University Grants Commission (UGC) to perform a research and develop a state-of-the-art system to solve a major issue in the railway track system of Bangladesh using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. We have received a grant of 3,00,000 Taka (eq. 3534 Dollars) from UGC for the year of 2020.

  • The primary objective of this project is to design an online system to detect and locate any unstable/removed fishplate and uprooted rail tracks.

  • This IoT based system can monitor every fishplate of the track in real-time server and is highly accurate to detect and localize any displaced fishplate.

  • In case of any unwanted event occurs, a signal/message will be sent to the central monitoring system and associated fishplates and tracks will be displayed in a digital map.

A Cyber-secured MQTT Based Offline Automation System

It was a collaborative project between ACI Logistics Limited and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The objective of this project was to build a desktop software and sensor network(hardware) which can monitor and control a supershop's electrical compliances using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Our "Team Hawkbit", along with Professor Dr. Md Farhad Hossain, Department of EEE, BUET, worked on this project for six months and successfully developed the project and run the demo version of it in a supershop. Our project related research paper titled ‘‘A Cyber-Secured MQTT based Offline Automation System,’’ had been published in IEEE 2019 International Conference on Wireless Communications Signal Processing and Networking (WiSPNET), Chennai, India. I participated in that conference and presented our research paper at that conference on 21 March, 2019. [PDF Available]

  • Developed an MQTT based offline system that can superstore, warehouses buildings and factories etc. which are integrated into a single dashboard where monitoring and controlling can be simultaneously executed.

  • Utilized locally normalized Histogram Oriented Gradient descriptors to detect human from an image.

  • Built a python based IoT software which can monitor and control all the electrical appliances of a super shop.

Smart Waste Management System Based on IoT [Hackathon]

On July 28, 2018, we, "Team Hawkbit" participated at a hackathon based on Internet of Things (IoT). This hackathon was arranged by CISCO, Bangladesh. We became one of the finalists among 84 teams.

  • Transferred IoT data from trash bin to cloud server and made an efficient system to alert the garbage collector, when the trashbin is full.

  • Integrated GSM system by using SIM 808 module to send message towards the people who don't use android app.

Smart Home Automation System Based on IoT [Competition]

On April 24, 2018, I (Nazmul Haque Turja), Shuvagata Saha Dipu, Nahian Ibn Hasan, Muhammad Tasnimul Hasan and Rishad Raiyan formed a group, named "Team Hawkbit", to solve some real life problems by using one of the newest technology back then, Internet of Things (IoT). On May 4, 2018, we, "Team Hawkbit" participated at a competition named "Battle of Hardware (IoT)", organized by "BUET CSE Festival 2018, Department of CSE, BUET". The problem statement was to light up 5 bulbs and 5 fans using Internet of Things (IoT) and to control the brightness of lights and speed of the fans via an android app. We successfully finished the project and became Champion at Battle of Hardware (IoT).

  • Implemented an android app using MIT app inventor which could monitor and control the hardware via Internet.

  • Utilized google firebase as web interface and a medium of connection between android app and hardware setup.
